Crafternoon Birthday Spectacular Recap

The day: a crisp and sunny Mother's Day in DuPont Circle.

The scene: my crowded apartment with magazine scraps and tacky glue on all surfaces.

The menu: Trader Joe's lemonade, milk, mimosas (thanks Jill S.), and a selection of Hello Cupcake cupcakes (in three flavors: chocolate with mint frosting, chocolate with raspberry frosting, and yellow cake with chocolate and vanilla frosting).

The guests: about 40 of my most favorite people (and some of their moms) who wanted to share in my 26th birthday festivities (including babies, toddlers, former Planned Parenthood colleagues, high school and BBYO friends, former Floral Designs of Potomac clients, GW friends, Hillel friends, neighbors, the RAC's delegation, current colleagues, W and CP readers, my craftastic family, and others).

...And the finished product: a plethora of beautifully decoupaged picture frames and one happy birthday girl.

Yes, you heard it--the Crafternoon Birthday Spectacular was just that! I could not have asked for more craft enthusiastic guests and was very pleased with our craft expert's instruction (thank you Karen K., former owner of Ipso Crafto).

I loved the craft energy in the apartment as people selected the perfect images for their beautiful photo frame projects. I loved the apron Shira G. brought in case we were doing a "messy craft." I loved the little pink seersucker party dress Liv wore. I loved the different people from different parts of my life who showed up to celebrate.

Consider hosting your own crafternoon soon! Karen can be reached by e-mail and has tons of good supplies just sitting in her apartment (including the aforementioned Jolee's By You stickers) waiting for us to use for new craft projects. Perhaps next time 'round we'll work on an embossing card project...or maybe some sort of beading activity...do I see Fimo in our crafternoon future?

PS--I hope the Crafternoon guests had as much fun as I did! I know Suburban Sweetheart did--check out her blog review of our shindig.

Whoa, my picture made the cut!

About Me

My Photo
When I am not busy helping non-profit organizations raise money online to change to the world, I leverage my status as a DC native (and expert Googler) to recommend products, restaurants, recipes, and shops (in addition to other things I find mildly diverting) in my blog, Wild and Crazy Pearl. The photos and witty banter are all mine, and don't belong to my lovely employer. I spend too much money on Itunes and lots of time in Planned Parenthood board meetings. My favorite possession is the cobalt blue Kitchen Aid mixer I used part of my Bat Mitzvah money to buy (it is still going strong). I also enjoy wearing hooded sweatshirts, drinking grapefruit juice, and falling asleep with the TV on.
